Truffles and Wine Training in Provence!

By March 17, 2014Guides, Wine

This weekend we met with a truficulteur and the Cellier Des Templiers winery in Richerenches, a Provence town known for their Truffle Market and delicious wines.

After in-depth training sessions, our guides have never been more ready to receive our guests along the routes of our Provence cycling tours this spring!

A fourth generation truffle guy (truficulteur)! He knows his truffles. In fact, his family represents 30% of the truffle market in France!

He told us about the life cycle of a truffle. (They don’t live long after they have been found.)

Origine Templiers is the best terroir Côtes Du Rhône. It’s 50% grenache and 50% syrah and must be opened after 5 or 6 years.

Cellier Des Templiers Diamant Noir, a reference to the area’s special black truffles. This wine tastes great with a truffle brouillade (omelette)! (We know, we tried it 🙂
