DF Runs to Support McDowell Sonoran Conservancy
On January 29th, Kristin and Ryan, two of our Scottsdale employees, participated in the McDowell Sonoran Challenge. Discover France was generous enough to sponsor them. The entry fee and other donations benefited the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy.
I know many of you are probably wondering what the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is not being from Scottdsale/Phoenix. The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is a non-profit organization that champions the completion and sustainability of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The Preserve is open to the public and popular for hiking, mountain biking, trail running, ecological education, but most importantly it provides a safe natural habitat for desert wildlife.
The MSC’s primary objectives are:
- To influence the community to establish open space for the preservation of native wildlife and historical resources while maintaining appropriate public access.
- To offer community education focusing on the science of the Preserve and the necessity to protect our natural environment.
- To provide the human resources required to protect and maintain the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
- To monitor the Preserve for human impact, mediate problems, and protect against future damage.
- To conduct scientific research to ensure the ecological integrity of the Preserve.
We were happy to help in their efforts. Kristin and Ryan had a great time running 15 kilometers through the Preserve. Ramona, another employee, came out to cheer on her fellow colleagues.
