After being skipped in 2014 Brittany is back on the 2015 edition of the Tour de France. Brittany, land of cycling (fifty clubs and more than 10,000 licenses issued in 2012), will once again have a place of honor this summer. The Tour arrives in the region on July 10th in Fougères and will leave the 12th from Vannes. The Tour will stop at Fougères , Rennes, Mur-de-Bretagne, Vannes and Plumelec, staying for a little over two days.

Stage 7

July 10th

Livarot / Fougères

190 km

After a 190km ride from Livarot Normandy riders will be arriving in Fougères, who was last an arrival city in 1985 (the city also served as departure city in 2013). The first part of this stage is one for the sprinters but, as elsewhere, a rider in a breakaway could take the victory.

Stage 8

July 11th

Rennes / Mûr de Bretagne

179 km

The last time the Tour was passed through the regional capital was in 2006 for a time-trial between Saint-Gregoire and Rennes. For this stage the riders will take the roads of the Côtes d’Armor department towards Mûr-de-Bretagne which will be climbed almost from zero speed , with a right turn at the foot of the climb (2 km at 6,9% going up to 15%). This stage should end the domination by the sprinters in this tour.

Stage 9

July 12th

Vannes / Plumelec

28 km

The passage of the Tour in Britain will end July 12th with a team time-trial of 28 km between Vannes and Plumelec before the first rest day. This rural town of over 2,700 inhabitants was the departure city for the 72nd edition of the Tour in 1985 and also the arrival city of the Tour in 1982 (team time-trial),1997 and 2008 . As Christian Prudhomme has commented, this team time trial will be atypical thanks to its final part because the finish line will be drawn at the top of the Côte de Cadoudal. This steep climb of about 2 kilometers could influence the choice of strategy and force some teams to wait for some of their riders.
