As every year, the moment to reveal the next Tour de France route has finally arrived!

We already knew that the departure city for the 2017 edition will be Düsseldorf, in Germany, a charming city along the Rhine river. The route will then continue in Belgium and Luxembourg, passing through the cities of Liège – stop here to taste the best waffles in the world! -, Verviers and Mondorf les Bains.

Here are some of the highlights of the 2017 route!

Nuits Saint Georges and the Burgundy vineyards

Burgundy is a must go for every wine lover. The landscapes are great and we can expect some wonderful views during the Tour. There are no high mountains in the region, the terrain is mainly hilly. Concerning the vineyards, the appellation falls into two parts, divided by the town itself. The northern portion extends as far as the border of Vosne-Romanée, and the southern section lies partly in Nuits-Saint-Georges and partly in Premeaux.

Périgueux, Bergerac, and the Dordogne region

One of the most beloved destinations for cycling! Tourists and travelers, particularly those who enjoy cycling, enjoy the quaint atmosphere, breathtaking landscapes and rich history that surround this region. Visitors to Dordogne are sure to leave with experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Dordogne is known worldwide for its beautiful countryside, mild weather and medieval villages packed with ancient castles.

In Dordogne, you will also find the famous Lascaux grotto, approximately 1-hour drive from Bergerac. The new Lascaux 4 sites will open during December 2016 and will give the visitors the possibility to explore the unique reproduction of the famous site, with

Ride the Pyrenees

One of the toughest rides of the Tour will be in the Pyrenees, precisely in Peyragudes, a classic winter destination. But we also love the Pyrenees for their wonderful landscapes and delicious gastronomy – taste the famous Aligot during your next trip there! The 2017 Tour will also stop in Foix, a picturesque city with some of the best restaurants in the area.

Col de l’Izoard and the Alps

The Col de l’Izoard will be this Tour’s highlight! The mythical climb made famous by some great riders such as Louison Bobet, Sylvère Maes, and more recently Andy Schleck. The tour will stop in the Alps for 3 days, and stop in the cities of Serre Chevalier (riding the Col du Galibier!), Briançon (Col d’Izoard via Savines le Lac Barcelonnette, le Col de Vars et Guillestre) and end the Alps stage in Embrun.

Paris and the Champs Elysées

As always, the Tour will end in Paris with the final laps on the Champs Elysées, a unique experience that also gives you the chance to discover or rediscover the French capital, one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
