Cycling Tours in Ireland

Ireland

Are you looking for a bike tour in Europe to discover exceptional castles? Dramatic landscapes and magnificent scenery: this is what you will find in Ireland! One of the best way to visit Ireland is for sure by bike: you will have all the time to go from one village to another, visit splendid cities and discover hidden gems, like small fishing harbors, ancient abbeys and of course traditional pubs.

Ireland, the “Emerald Isle”, beckons cyclists with its enchanting landscapes and timeless charm. This land of rolling green hills, rugged coastal cliffs, and serene lakes provides a captivating backdrop for those seeking a unique cycling experience. As you traverse its winding country lanes, you’re greeted by historical castles, stone-walled fields, and the warm smiles of locals. Connemara and the scenic Ring of Kerry are just two iconic routes that promise unforgettable rides. Ireland’s ever-changing weather adds an element of surprise, with the possibility of witnessing a golden sunset, a misty morning, or even a rainbow on your journey. Off the saddle, dive into the country’s rich heritage with traditional music sessions and tales of ancient legends. A cycling trip in Ireland is not just about the ride; it’s an immersion into a rich tapestry of nature, history, and culture.

REASONS TO DISCOVER IRELAND

Dramatic landscapes

This is what you will find in Ireland! Ireland THE green country, with outstanding cliffs, lakes, hills and beaches. A perfect trip for nature lovers.

Irish Heritage

Dublin, Belfast and Kilkenny are just some of the magnificent cities you can visit in Ireland. With an important religious heritage, such as Kylemore Abbey, but also magnificent castles, as in Kilekenny, you will be astonished by the Irish heritage!

Pubs

Have a stop in a local pub to eat and drink should definitely be on your to do list while in Ireland, they are part of the local culture!

The people

Irish people are welcoming and always willing to help you during your stay.

Magical atmosphere

There are no other words to describe the atmosphere that reigns in Ireland, almost magical. Dating back centuries, magic is an important part of the culture of Ireland, just have a look to the local legends.

CONNEMARA

This tour takes in the highlights of Connemara, Joyces Country and South Mayo. The starting point and your first night’s accommodation location is Clifden. This colorful town is often labelled the metropole of Connemara.

The loop ride takes you around the coast to Augrusbeg and Cleggan and out along the Sky Road. Leaving Clifden you will ride to the Lough Inagh Valley via Roundstone. From there we travel to Kylemore Abbey and Leenane on the shores of Killary Harbour into the beautiful Delphi Valley.

From here you turn east into the Maam Valley and Joyce‘s country to finish in the quaint village of Cong located on Lough Corrib and served as location for the film the Quiet Man and home to Ashford Castle (one of Ireland’s finest hotels with magnificent park). The last day is an easy ride through the East Galway countryside to Galway, a bustling historic city. The tour is suitable for riders of all levels.

KERRY

The Ring of Kerry abounds in natural wonders and the beauty and grandeur of the scenery is unsurpassed by any in Ireland. Starting in the town of Killarney made famous by the magnificent “Three Lakes of Killarney”, the “Ring” then continues anti-clockwise through Killorglin, Caherciveen, on to Waterville and Sneem before returning to Killarney.

We, however, find this route to be “overrun”with tourists and therefore unkind to cycles so for that reason we suggest a much more leisurely and quieter mix of inland and coastal routes to give you just the same beauty and splendour if not more!

You can also find your Scotland bike tour, your Baltic states tour, your Portugal bike tour or your Holland bike tour.
