Arrival in Piran


Arrival in Piran on your own and settle at your hotel. (transfer on your own to the hotel). Piran is a charming coastal town in Slovenia, located on the Adriatic Sea. Known for its Venetian architecture, picturesque alleys, and Tartini Square, it offers a unique Mediterranean atmosphere. Its coastline, seafood, and stunning sunsets make it a popular destination for travelers.

From Piran-Portoroz to Groznjan


Your journey begins in the picturesque town of Piran, known for its medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Before you hop on your bike, take a moment to explore the narrow streets and visit landmarks like St. George’s Church, which offers panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. You will cycle all along Piran Bay through Portorož and Lucija towns to Sečovlje Salt Pans. The Sečovlje salts pans are the northernmost salt flats in the Mediterranean. The salt is produced in the traditional way based on a 700-year-old method that harmonizes man and nature. You can visit it's museum. After you cross Slovenian - Croatian border Parenzana will take uphill along the gravel trail where you can enjoy the view on the whole bay with saltworks and the alps in the background.

From Kanegra, you’ll head inland towards Grožnjan. The route takes you through rolling hills and vineyards, showcasing the lush Istrian countryside. As you approach Grožnjan, known for its vibrant art scene and charming streets, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of the Mirna Valley.

Upon arrival in Grožnjan, take your time to explore the artistic village filled with galleries and studios. Stroll through the cobbled streets and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, savoring Istrian delicacies and perhaps a glass of local wine.

From Groznjan to Motovun


Continue from Grožnjan, taking the scenic route through the Istrian countryside. Enjoy the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes. After passing through several tunnels, over old bridges you can stop on many fascinating view point before reaching the village of Livade, the truffle center of the world where you can taste and buy some products with truffles. Arrive in Motovun, a picturesque hilltop town renowned for its stunning medieval architecture and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Perched atop a 277-meter-high hill, it features narrow cobblestone streets, ancient city walls, and charming stone houses. The town is famous for its truffles, making it a culinary hotspot, especially during the annual truffle festival.

Distance: 37km (24mi) or 31km (19mi).

From Motovun to Porec


Begin in the historic town center, enjoying the views before you set off. Cycle down the winding roads from Motovun towards Vižinada. Continue riding on Parenzana trail and enjoy the beautiful Istrian countryside, with vineyards and olive groves lining your path. Taste home-made food, wine and honey produced in this area. Take a short break in Vižinada, a charming village with a local café.

From there, follow the bike paths leading to Poreč. The route offers lovely views of the landscape, and you may pass through other small villages along the way.You will pass by Nova Vas village where you can visit Baredine Cave. Once in Poreč, visit the famous Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and stroll along the seafront promenade. Enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants in the old town.

Porec LOOP to Vrsar


Cycling from Poreč to Vrsar offers a scenic ride through the beautiful Istrian landscape, blending coastal views, charming towns, and natural attractions. Follow the cycling path along the coast, enjoying views of crystal clear sea, beaches and small bays you will reach Vrsar. Vrsar is a beautiful fisherman town preched on a hill, offering stunning views on the coast and islands. Take time ti visit the old town, St. Martin's church, or relax at the marina. Vrsar is known for its artistically significant history and its connection to the famous Italian adventurer who came back event two times. Head toward the Kontija Forest, a lush green area ideal for nature lovers. The forest is protected, rich in Mediterranean flora, and offers shaded paths perfect for cycling. In Kontija, there are several viewpoints where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Lim Bay and its surroundings.

From Kanfanar to Rovinj


In the morning you will take a shuttle to Kanfanar, a small town above the Lim valley. Start riding on a small local road, first you will reach Svetvinčenat. With its grandiose Morosini-Grimani citadel with towers, parish church, municipal loggia and a line of 16th century houses of the Renaissance and a town cistern - šterna in the middle, Svetvinčenat really belongs to a range of the most attractive Venetian creations of that period effected in this region which held one of the rare witchcraft trials in Istria during 17th century.

Continue cycling on asphalted road you will reach Bale. You can visit the Bembo palace, city square and museum. From Bale you will be riding on mix of gravel and asphalted roads and trail all along the coast until you will reach Rovinj, the "Pearl of Adriatic“. Known for its picturesque old town and vibrant harbor. With narrow cobblestone streets, colorful Venetian-style buildings, and a bustling waterfront, Rovinj exudes a unique blend of history and Mediterranean charm. The town’s centerpiece is the Church of St. Euphemia, which offers stunning views from its bell tower. Rovinj is also famous for its lively arts scene, delicious seafood restaurants, and beautiful beaches. The nearby islands and nature parks provide opportunities for outdoor activities, making Rovinj a popular destination for both relaxation and adventure.

Today is departure day, you can take your time getting started in the morning, have breakfast and depart at your leisure from Rovinj. (Depart on your own). Depending on your wishes, we can arrange additional accommodation or transportation before or after your tour.

You can use public transport to reach Piran/Portorose, there are local buses running from Pula, Trieste, Venice and Ljubljana to Piran bus station. In that case please let us know your time of arrival and will pick you up at the Piran bus station and drive you to your hotel.
